For riders

Getting around with TAB.

When you request a ride, TAB shows you the exact price you'll pay before you confirm. That price is locked — it doesn't change if traffic gets worse, the driver takes a slightly different route, or demand spikes while you're in the car. What you see is what you pay.
No. Your fare is locked from the moment you confirm your ride. The only exception is if you request a significant route change mid-trip — in that case, the app will show you the updated fare before applying it, and you can accept or cancel.
A Tab is a running balance of your rides throughout the week. Instead of being charged separately for every trip, your rides accumulate Monday through Sunday, and a single charge is settled at the end of the week. It's simpler, produces fewer transactions on your bank statement, and makes budgeting your commute much easier.
TAB is live in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. Los Angeles and Seattle are launching in late 2026. See our full Cities page for the current map and coming-soon timeline.
At the end of your trip the app prompts you to leave a tip. You can also tip from your ride history within 24 hours. Tips go 100% to your driver — TAB takes nothing from tips.
If your driver cancels after being matched, TAB immediately finds you the next available driver and your locked fare stays the same. You are never charged for a cancelled ride, and the app will notify you the moment a new driver accepts.

Driving and earning with TAB.

TAB charges a flat 15% platform fee on the base fare. That's it — no fuel surcharge clawbacks, no deductions for tolls you didn't incur, no unexplained adjustments. You see the math before you accept every ride. Full breakdown on our Earnings page.
Standard payouts run weekly — earnings from Monday through Sunday hit your bank account every Friday morning. If you want access sooner, daily instant cash-out is available for a small transfer fee (currently $0.99 per transfer).
Yes — always. Every cent of every tip goes directly to you. Tips are not counted as part of the base fare and are never subject to the platform fee.
You'll need: a valid U.S. driver's license, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and a clear vehicle photo. Depending on your state, a background check authorization is also required. The application on our Drive with TAB page walks you through everything step by step.
Yes — always. TAB shows you the full fare, your 85% take, approximate trip distance, and destination before you accept. You are never committed to a ride you haven't seen the details on.
In markets not yet live (like Los Angeles and Seattle), you can join the driver waitlist through our Join us page. When we launch in your market, waitlisted drivers are onboarded first — often weeks before the market opens to general applicants.
Account & billing

Your account, simplified.

Open the TAB app → tap your profile icon → Wallet → Add payment method. You can store multiple cards and set a default. Changes apply to your next weekly tab settlement.
Go to your ride history in the app, tap the trip in question, and select "Something's wrong." Our support team reviews disputes within 24 hours. Because fares are locked at booking, disputes are rare — but we take every one seriously.
You can request account deletion from Settings → Privacy → Delete account. We'll confirm via email and process the deletion within 7 days. Active tab balances are settled before deletion is completed.
Safety

Your safety is not optional.

While a trip is in progress, tap "Share ride" in the app to send a live tracking link via text or copy it to any app. The link shows your location, driver name, vehicle, and estimated arrival — and updates in real time.
The TAB app has a dedicated emergency button that connects you directly to 911 and simultaneously alerts our safety team with your real-time location. Find it anytime during a trip by tapping the shield icon in the bottom of the ride screen.
Every TAB driver passes a multi-layer background check covering criminal history, driving record, and identity verification. Checks are run through a licensed third-party service and renewed annually. Drivers with serious violations are permanently ineligible, not just temporarily suspended.
Go to your ride history, tap the trip, and select "Report a safety concern." For urgent issues, email safety@rwtab.com — our safety team monitors this address 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
